Windows 11 KB5015814 Security Update July 2022

July Patch Tuesday is here and Microsoft has released KB5015814, a new security update for users running Windows 11. This cumulative update increases your OS build to 22000.795. The security updates can be downloaded automatically through Windows Update, manually via Windows Update, or deployed through update management services such as WSUS.

  • Fixes a problem where the PowerShell command output is redirected so that transcript logs do not include the command’s output. This results in the loss of the decrypted password.

Symptom 1:

It is possible that some .NET Framework 3.5 apps will not open after installing this update.

Workaround:

Re-enabling Windows Communication Foundation and .NET Framework 3.5 should resolve this issue. If you’re an advanced user or IT admin, you need to open the Command Prompt as administrator and run the below commands:

dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:WCF-HTTP-Activation
dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:WCF-NonHTTP-Activation

Symptom 2:

This update may stop Microsoft Edge’s IE mode tabs from responding when modal dialog boxes appear on a site.

Workaround:

You can resolve this issue by using the Known Issue Rollback (KIR). Consumer devices and non-managed business devices may take up to 24 hours to propagate the resolution automatically. You might be able to apply the resolution faster if you restart your Windows device.
