Microsoft has released a new cumulative update KB5012643 for Windows 11 which includes some notable changes and a lot of bug fixes. Windows 11 KB5012643 is now available via Windows Update and WSUS, however, there is also an offline installer provided for download. These offline installers can be helpful when the update fails to be installed through the traditional methods.
As part of the Windows 11 Patch Tuesday update scheduled for May 2022, Microsoft released KB5012643 as an optional cumulative preview update. The cumulative update will not automatically download and install unless you manually check for updates. In contrast to the March 2022 optional update, this incremental update is not as large, however, some quality improvements have been made. The April 2022 Update brings a new option that shows the temperature next to the weather icon on the taskbar.
Microsoft fixed a bug in which video subtitles were incorrectly aligned and a problem in which partial video subtitles were displayed. According to Microsoft, the company has also modified the window controls, so users can no longer use minimize, maximize, or close buttons.

There are a number of quality improvements included in this update. They are as follows:
- Windows 11 taskbar now displays temperature in addition to the weather icon.
- Additionally, Microsoft says it has improved the Secure Boot service.
- Microsoft fixed a problem with video subtitles that were partially cut off.
- Microsoft updated its operating systems to fix an issue that caused video subtitles to not align correctly.
- It resolves the problem A weight issue has been resolved in which users are no longer able to click on the minimize, maximize, and close buttons.
Microsoft says the update fixes a race condition that may cause the Blue Screen of Death error when you boot the operating system. A problem with AppX Deployment Service (AppXSvc) stopped working when MSIX apps were installed.
In addition, the company has improved the Autopilot client and TPM so that they can support self-provisioning and self-deployment. Microsoft has also fixed a memory leak bug that reported high memory usage in Windows. Furthermore, Microsoft has also addressed an issue that would prevent mobile device management policies from working on Windows Enterprise editions, affecting the Title attribute in Edge IE mode.
According to the company, it fixed a problem caused by a servicing update that could result in Windows going into BitLocker recovery. In another update, the operating system fixes a problem where it might fail to copy a Group Policy’s security settings
KB5012643 Known issues
At the moment, only one known issue is associated with the update. According to the release note, your recovery disk won’t work if you created it using the ‘Backup and Restore’ feature of Windows 7.
There is no effect on third-party backup or recovery apps due to this bug.
How to Download Windows 11 KB5012643
Microsoft offers Windows cumulative optional updates in Settings via Windows Update. If you would like to download the offline installer, you can access it via the Microsoft Update Catalog. It is available on this page as an MSU package. On the following page, click the ‘Download’ button then open the .msu link.
Google Chrome users can now download the update package much more easily. Microsoft had previously served updates over an insecure HTTP connection through its Update Catalog. Because of this, Google has blocked users from accessing the .msu file on the current page.
Links to the Update Catalog are now served with HTTPS, and Google no longer blocks access to the .msu files.
