KB5008206 and KB5008218 Security Updates for Windows 10 1909/1809

On December 2021 Patch Tuesday, Microsoft releases cumulative updates KB5008206 and KB5008218 for Windows 10 version 1909 and 1809. This security update comes with quality improvements that increase the Build OS to 18363.1977 and 17763.2366 respectively. Updates are now rolling out through Windows Update, Microsoft Update Catalog, and WSUS with a number of bug fixes and improvements.

The security update contains quality improvements. The changes are as follows:

  • Microsoft now supports the cancellation of daylight saving time for Fiji in 2021.
  • Resolves an issue in which some variable fonts were rendered incorrectly.
  • Worked on a problem that occurs when a dialog box opens in Internet Explorer.
  • It has been reported that Microsoft has fixed a known issue that leads to error codes 0x000006e4, 0x0000007c, or 0x00000709. This problem used to occur when connecting to a Windows print server that is shared by a remote printer.
  • Possibly resolves an issue in which some apps, including Kaspersky, cannot be opened after using the Microsoft Installer (MSI) to repair or update them.

Key changes in this security update include:

  • Microsoft has resolved a known issue, where Microsoft Defender for Endpoint might not start or run on devices that are installed with a Windows Server Core operating system.

1] Through Windows Update

Use the following steps to download the KB5008206 and KB5008218 security update –

  • Right-click on the Start button and select the Settings option.

  • Now go to the right side of the page and click Check for Updates.

  • Start your computer again after it has finished downloading.

2] Microsoft Update Catalog

3] Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)
