Today Microsoft released another set of quality update i.e. KB4480116 for Windows 10 1809 Build 17763.253. This is the cumulative patch up. There is quality of improvements made along with addition of several other features to this OS.

The cumulative update KB4480116 for Windows 10 1809 Build 17763.253 has brought minor improvements. The key changes are-

In previous releases, users can configure PowerShell remote endpoints to work with non-administrator accounts. However with this release, if you try to use the same on non-administrator account, an error message will pop up which will appear like this:

New-PSSession: [computerName] Connecting to remote server localhost failed with the following error message: The WSMan service could not launch a host process to process the given request. Make sure the WSMan provider host server and proxy are properly registered. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic.

The cumulative update ESE is now capable to repair the corrupt Database which uses esentutl /p. When the Extensible Storage Engine Database is corrupted, it simply won’t mount.

Security updates are now available for Windows Kernel, Windows Storage and File systems, Windows Wireless Networking, Microsoft JET Database Engine, Windows Linux, Windows Virtualization, and the Microsoft Scripting Engine.

Known issues in KB4480116 update

According to the Microsoft website, there are some known issued on the KB4480116 cumulative update which are as follows –

Symptom– After installing this update, third-party applications may have difficulty authenticating hotspots.

Workaround– Microsoft is working on a resolution and estimates the solution will be available by late January.

Note: Microsoft strongly recommends Windows users to avail recent SSU (servicing stack update) available for OS before grabing the lately released cumulative update. This will reduce or avoid the possible trouble and improve its functionality.

How to get KB4480116 update manually?

The KB4480116 update will automatically download and installs on your PC if you haven’t disabled the Update Services. However, one can download this manually as well visiting the Microsoft Update Catalog thereafter clicking on the Download button. If in any situation you cannot get this update, you can locate it manually using Settings.

  • Press Win & I to launch Settings.
